De nationale accreditatie-instantie describes assessment requirements for AI applications

The nationale accreditatie-instantie describes how AI applications are assessed against risks, validation requirements and the AI Act during accreditation assessments.

7 October 2026

The nationale accreditatie-instantie has developed an assessment guide for AI applications. The de nationale accreditatie-instantie uses this guide during accreditation assessments to assess competence, consistency and impartiality in relation to AI.

Organisations must identify the impact of AI applications, AI agents and third-party equipment incorporating AI. The de nationale accreditatie-instantie emphasises the importance of a risk analysis, documented control measures, regular testing and validation, version control and recording validation results.

In addition, the de nationale accreditatie-instantie examines the purpose and function of an AI model and how organisations maintain control and oversight of processes. In the context of the European AI Act, the de nationale accreditatie-instantie also refers to employee training, the development of AI literacy, confidentiality and transparency regarding the use of AI.

According to the de Nederlandse instantie, human oversight must remain central. People retain responsibility and must remain critical of the operation and outcomes of AI applications.
