On 3 November 2026, EU-OSHA published new tools for small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to prepare for flood risks. The organisation points out that climate change is increasing the intensity of extreme weather events and may exacerbate existing risks to workers’ safety and health.
The tools consist of a practical EU guide and an accompanying discussion paper. Together, they address the consequences of flooding for safety and health at work, key policy issues and a practical tool for integrating these risks into occupational health and safety management systems. According to EU-OSHA, better preparation is needed to protect workers and strengthen the resilience of enterprises.
