On 2 July 2026, the nationale accreditatie-instantie discussed the risk analysis for its impartiality during the annual Impartiality Consultation. The methodology for the risk analysis has not been changed. However, some wording has been tightened. For the time being, no additional measures are needed for the risks associated with the use of AI by customers and de nationale accreditatie-instantie.
An external accountant, who is not de nationale accreditatie-instantie’s current auditor, tested the methodology. No findings or areas for improvement were identified during a recent peer evaluation regarding the way in which de nationale accreditatie-instantie safeguards its impartiality.
The consultation covered, among other things, the appointment of assessors and the consideration of potential conflicts of interest in assignments. According to de Nederlandse instantie, this remains a point of attention, particularly in specific sectoral niches where few experts are available. The importance of accessible contact with de nationale accreditatie-instantie and a good dialogue between customers and the Lead Assessor was also discussed.
Through the consultation, de nationale accreditatie-instantie fulfils the requirements set out in clauses 4.4.5 and 4.4.6 of ISO/IEC 17011. These provisions require, among other things, that interested parties can participate effectively and in a balanced manner in safeguarding impartiality, and that risks are continuously identified, assessed, addressed, monitored and documented. The consultation was attended, among others, by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, NVCi, Fenelab, the Vereniging van Schemabeheerders, and representatives of medical laboratories and de nationale accreditatie-instantie committees.
