How a combined audit works

  1. One audit team

One audit team looks at your company for two or more standards at once. Every requirement of every standard counts.
  2. Adding up days per standard

The certification body calculates each standard separately and adds up those days.
  3. Up to 20% off

From that total it may deduct at most 20%. That depends on how far your systems are integrated and how many of its auditors may do several standards.
  4. Check in stage 1

In your request you state how far your systems are integrated. In stage 1 the auditor checks that.

This many audit days come off

The deduction follows a fixed table in Global ACI-TECH-3-008: per row how far your system is integrated, per column how much of the audit team may do several standards.

Example: 30 FTE with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 is 15 days separately. With 60 to 80% integration and a team at 50%, 10% comes off: 1.5 days.

When your system counts as integrated

The more of these characteristics apply to you, the higher the certification body rates your integration.

  • One set of documents and work instructions for all standards
  • One management review for the whole company
  • One approach to internal audits
  • One approach to policy and objectives
  • One approach to the system's processes
  • One approach to nonconformities, measurement and improvement
  • One allocation of tasks and responsibilities

Why compare quotes through CertificeerWijzer?

For the same standard, the price can differ by up to 75%, depending on the providers you choose. That difference can be explained, because paths differ more than you think: in how much you do yourself and how much you hand over, in the quality of the tooling, in the specialisation of the certification body, in how soon a party can support you and in the certifications of the providers themselves.

So when comparing, do not look at price alone, but also at these factors:

  • Price of the whole path Compare the costs over the full three-year cycle, not just the first quote.
  • Specialisation in your sector A partner who knows your industry asks the right questions and understands your processes.
  • Norms and values Pragmatic or thorough, on site or remote: a partner that fits the way you work.
  • Capacity A partner with time when you need it, so your deadline or tender is not at risk.
  • International recognition Working with clients abroad? Then the name and reputation of your partners matter.
  • Qualifications An accredited certification body, a qualified auditor and a consultant with proven experience, so the result is recognised.

We know the providers personally. We are in direct contact with every connected provider, so we have the most up-to-date information on their prices, specialisations, approach, certifications and availability.

Frequently asked questions

How much do you save with a combined audit?

Up to 20% of audit days. How much it is follows a fixed table in Global ACI-TECH-3-008: how far your systems are integrated and how many auditors may do several standards.

Do all my certificates have to be with one certification body?

For one combined audit, yes: that certification body must have all your standards in its accreditation. If your systems run separately, or one body knows your sector better for one standard, spreading can be smarter.

Which standard suits my company?

The best known are ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 14001 (environment). There are also sector-specific standards such as NEN 7510 (healthcare IT) and ISO 22000 (food safety). We help you find the right match.

What does certification cost?

Costs vary widely depending on company size, number of locations and the chosen standard. On average, the annual audit costs for an SME are between €2,000 and €5,000. In addition, there are one-off implementation costs if you hire a consultancy.

How do I choose the right certification body?

Look for accreditation (the Dutch accreditation body, UKAS or similar) - this guarantees international recognition. Through CertificeerWijzer you only work with accredited certification bodies, so you do not need to worry about that. Also look at sector experience, availability of auditors and value for money.

Am I committed to anything?

No, nothing at all. You are free to decline quotations, choose another certification body, or decide not to certify at all. No obligations, no small print.
